VueMinder. will not start

VueMinder. will not start

I've just downloaded VueMinder Lite 9.0.2, installed it on a Vista x64 SP2 machine.

Installation appeared to complete without errors, but VueMinder itself will not start up.

The splash screen appears and Windows Task Manager shows me that VueMinder.exe *32 is running (at High Base Priority!). That goes on for about 2 or 3 minutes without any other visible signs of VueMinder life. Then it stops and Windows tells me that "VueMinder has stopped working", etc.

The Windows Event Viewer shows this error:

Any ideas? I would really like to use VueMinder Lite or even Pro but I can't even start to evaluate the product.

Here is some more info since my original post...

I installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer), uninstalled VueMinder Lite, rebooted, reinstalled VueMinder Lite.

Result: VueMinder Lite would not start and exhibited the same symptoms as I originally posted.

I then found and downloaded and ran the VueMinder Lite USB version. That works OK!!

I would still like to resolve the issue with the regular installation as that would probably be my preference in case I decide to go to VueMinder Pro.

Hi Jerry, could you try the installer below, and let me know if you have any better luck?
VueMinder Lite 9.0.3 Beta 1

I found a discrepancy that I think might be related to the problem. I'm not able to duplicate the problem, so I'm not entirely convinced the discrepancy is related, but I couldn't find anything else.

I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Dan, thanks but the 9.0.3 Beta 1 which I installed a few minutes ago -- didn't work either. Same problem as before.

This may be another clue to the problem: Yesterday evening, I tried yet again to install and run 9.0.2. No luck, however the following additional error showed up in Windows Event Viewer:

.NET Runtime Optimization Service (clr_optimization_v4.0.30319_64) - Failed to compile: C:\Program Files (x86)\VueSoft\VueMinder\VueMinder.exe . Error code = 0x800700d8

That error message doesn't mean much to me but here's a wild stab: is there a 64/32 bit conflict? (I am running Vista Home Premium 64 bit, SP2. Both 64 bit [clr_optimization_v4.0.30319_64] and 32 bit [clr_optimization_v4.0.30319_32] versions of .Net 4 services are running.)

Hi Jerry, thank you for the information. VueMinder is developed on a 64-bit computer. A majority of the testing is also done on 64-bit computers, so I don't think this is a 32 bit vs. 64-bit issue.

Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1? I think that might fix it.

Hi Dan

Have now uninstalled/reinstalled .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. No luck though. Same problems with VueMinder, even with an uninstall/reinstall of VueMinder.

Maybe something is messed up in the program settings. Can you try resetting the data and settings using the utility linked below, and let me know if this works?

Hi, I am also having the same problem, net.framework installed, problem not resolved.
Deleted VueMinder Lite, cleaned, reinstalled, same problem.
Ran ResetData, same problem.
Any ideas?

The latest version of VueMinder requires .NET Framework 4.0 Extended Profile. Please double-check you have this version of the .NET Framework installed. If you use Windows Update to install the .NET Framework, it only installs the Client Profile, not the Extended Profile that VueMinder requires.
