Hi rmj01, have you tried all the trouble-shooting tips linked below?
http://www.vueminder.com/sharing.php

It's probably a firewall issue. The SQL services need to be allowed, as well as inbound and outbound TCP/IP traffic on ports 1434 and 1451. This is explained in the link above.

I'm pretty sure TopDog is seeing a different problem than you, since he's unable to get the services to start. Same symptom, but different diagnosis.

I have the permissions set for the ports 1434 and 1451. It just will not connect to the server.

1. On the Start menu, go to All Programs -> Accessories. If using Windows 7 or Vista, right-click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator” from the popup menu. Otherwise just click the shortcut to open the command line.

2. At the command line, type: net start MSSQL$VUESOFT

3. If an error occurs, please send the latest SQL error log to support@vueminder.com. The error log is located under "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.VUESOFT\MSSQL\LOG".

Hopefully the error log will provide me some additional clues.

If you're just looking for a way to keep 2 computers in sync, you could use the low tech approach of publishing and subscribing to the same ICS file on your local network. This can be accomplished via the Publish and Subscribe tabs of the Calendar Properties window.

Another even simpler option would be to transfer data using the Portable version. See the link below for more detail:

I did not receive an error instead it said "The requested service has already been started" so I have sent the error logs just in case you can glean something from them. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know what is causing the problem. Maybe something here will help?

Wondering if this was ever resolved and how? I have the same problem and cannot subscribe/publish as I need to share notes and contacts.

What happened is I rebuilt my home network from scratch. New homegroup name and went from there. It is working nicely now.

I never got mine to work. Perhaps it is a matter of rebuilding. I will have to try that.

I give up-I've spent too much time on this already.
