List view bug - changing sel date prompts to del event

Post by appyface » Mon Sep 20, 2010 4:05 pm

Minor cosmetic bug on the list view. To recreate:

1. From list view, choose 'a range of dates' and put in some valid date range that will list some events

2. Click (select) an event in the list view, it should have a green right-arrow at the far left of the row

3. Click somewhere into the 'from' date field for 'a range of dates' selection

4. Use cursor to swipe entire 'from' date field to select it (or use keystrokes, home, shift+end)

5. Press 'delete' key

Normally the 'delete' key will delete the highlighted contents in the 'from' date field, but in this case there will be a prompt to delete the selected event.

Workaround: The 'backspace' key will delete the highlighted contents of the date field.

Kind regards,

Thank you for letting me know about the problem. I think this is another case of the Delete menu command intercepting the keypress before the field that is being actively edited. As mentioned here, you can fix this by removing the Delete menu command's keyboard shortcut. In my limited testing, this doesn't seem to affect the ability to delete selected items, but does allow the highlighted date to be cleared without asking to delete the selected event. I'll have this corrected in the next version.

This has been corrected in 7.4, which is now available.
