Kiosk mode?

Post by SmackMule » Fri May 29, 2015 1:22 am

Hello. I am considering purchasing VueMinder. However, I'm trying to determine if there's a way to have it run in a view-only, kiosk-like mode on a secondary PC. A few of us will be maintaining a detailed office/event calendar. Others (third parties) need to reference our calendar, however. I would like a monitor to display real-time calendar details, and allow viewers to change the view if necessary, say, from weekly to monthly to day view. Is this possible? Any info appreciated.

Hi SmackMule, welcome to the forums. Calendars can be shared over a local network so events entered on one computer will instantly appear on another. The calendar permissions can be configured so people on the other computer can view the details but not make any changes. To do this, set the permission level of "(Everyone)" to "Reader" on the Sync tab of the Calendar Properties. Other users will still be able to change the calendar view. See the page linked below for step-by-step instructions on how to share calendars between computers. Step 3.7 explains how the calendar permissions work.

Also, there's a "Full Screen" mode which can be enabled by pressing the F11 key. That mode might be more appropriate for a kiosk-style display. ... creen-mode

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
