running several instances of the app with different settings

Post by leopoldus » Wed May 06, 2015 10:07 am

Hello,

Is there an option to install more than one instances of VueMinder and than configure than in different way (including using different calendars sets)? Say, to install VM in different locations and/or to start them with different .INI files?

If one can install several installations, is it possible the run some of them simultaneously?

Thanks!

Hi leopoldus, VueMinder is designed to only allow a single instance. There's no mechanism to run multiple instances simultaneously, unless you're running it under different user accounts on the same computer. Each user account will have its own data and settings.

There's a USB version that can be copied to different locations (and not necessarily on a USB stick - it could be on the local hard drive, cloud drive, network drive, etc). The settings and data co-exist in the folder where the USB version is located, so you could use the USB version with different data and settings for each folder. However, as mentioned above, there's no way to have multiple versions running at the same time, even if they are running from different folders.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Another, heavy, workaround could be to run it within an array of virtual machines, and have those all synced to external server allowing another instance of calender-applications or even 1 instance of viewminder on the actual machine adapt those/switch between those, if you don't feel like switching between virtual machines..
